This project involved the complete redecoration of a spacious Southside flat. The original interior had become tired and patchy over time, with inconsistent paintwork, worn woodwork, and surface imperfections throughout. My client wanted a full refresh that retained the character of the flat but delivered a clean, modern finish.
The flat featured intricate woodwork, high ceilings, and beautiful natural light, but the existing condition of the walls, ceilings, and trim was letting the space down. The challenge was to restore and enhance these features while delivering a smooth, cohesive result throughout.
I began with a full strip of all walls, woodwork and ceilings, removing old paint, surface buildup and blemishes that had accumulated over the years. Once stripped back, every surface was meticulously sanded and filled to eliminate uneven textures and defects.
This included intricate detailing such as skirtings, cornices, door frames, radiators, window surrounds, and built-in shelving units. I made sure each feature was properly prepped and brought back to life.
With a clean canvas achieved, I moved on to the redecoration stage. The main hallway and internal doors were finished in soft, neutral tones that complement the building’s period features, while the living room took on a more dramatic look with rich, deep-toned walls paired against light ceilings and warm timber shelving.
The transformation is striking. From worn and inconsistent to elegant, cohesive and modern, the flat now has a refined, characterful feel that works across every room. The freshly painted ceilings and perfectly prepped woodwork help lift the space, while the darker feature walls in the living room add depth and style.
