For this Giffnock property, I was brought in to carry out a complete restoration of the main bedroom, which had suffered from extensive water damage. Years of chimney flue deterioration and corner-point water ingress had left the interior walls badly affected, requiring a specialist approach to bring them back to life.
The main issue in this bedroom was ongoing dampness and structural wall damage caused by moisture penetration from the chimney and exterior corner junctions. My goal was not just to restore the visual appearance but to fully stabilise the surfaces and provide a long-term decorative solution suitable for everyday living.
I began by stripping all affected plasterwork back to the bare substrate. This revealed extensive areas of deterioration and historical patching that had previously masked the underlying damp issues.
To resolve this, I sealed the walls using specialist damp-proofing products, then installed Wallrock fibre liner paper. This high-performance lining solution not only reinforces compromised surfaces but also provides a breathable barrier that helps prevent future cracking and movement.
Once the walls were fully prepared, I moved on to decoration. The entire room was painted using premium Tikkurila paints, chosen for their durability, coverage, and smooth modern finish. The soft neutral tones paired with crisp white detailing created a relaxing and sophisticated bedroom aesthetic.
This bedroom is now completely transformed — from a damaged, damp-prone space into a bright, clean and modern sanctuary. The use of Wallrock lining ensures a robust, long-lasting result, while the Tikkurila paint delivers a beautifully smooth finish with subtle, contemporary elegance.
